In this live, four-session Zoom course, you’ll design, build, and animate a compact crankie theatre box and illustrated scroll. Learn the traditional storytelling form of “moving panoramas,” now practised worldwide—and brought right to your workspace

What You’ll Learn

• Crankie history & storytelling techniques: Explore the origins of moving panoramas and how to storyboard your story 

• Theatre box building: Construct a viewing frame with dual spool cranks for manual scrolling.

• Scroll design & illustration: Plan and create a seamless pictorial narrative that fits within the box.

• Mechanics & control: Assemble the crank mechanism for trustable, smooth performance.

• Optional performance elements: Discover how to enhance with shadow puppets, text, or music
